Autocontrol once again agrees with Repsol in its battle with Iberdrola over misleading advertising

Date:

Iberdrola sees the organization’s failure as “another example of its lack of objectivity” and will launch a new campaign to promote aerothermal energy.

The Association for the Self-Regulation of Commercial Communications (Self-control) agrees again Repsol in his struggle with Iberdrola due to cross-accusations of false advertising. Specifically, the third section of the Self-Control Jury upheld a claim by the group led by Josu Jon Imaz against an advertisement of the electricity company promoting aerothermal energy.

Repsol’s claim is against an advertisement broadcast by Iberdrola on television and radio in which the aerothermal and it was suggested that the European Council would force Spain to phase out gas boilers. The oil company considered that this advertising was “contrary to the principle of truth” and “misleading”, arguing that the European directives (2023/1791 and 2023/955) do not stipulate “the ban on gas boilers or their mandatory replacement with aerothermal boilers”. energy.”.

Autocontrol therefore declares that this campaign violates rule 14 of the Autocontrol Advertising Code of Conduct and urges Iberdrola customers to rectification of advertising claimed.

For its part, Iberdrola has once again shown its disagreement with the latest resolutions on advertising against the electricity company, estimating that this latest Autocontrol ruling is “another example of the lack of objectivity” and “a valid and impartial base is missing”. At the same time, it has announced that it will launch a new commercial campaign to promote aerothermal energy as a gradual replacement for boilers that burn fossil fuels.
