Spectacular traffic accident in the early morning hours on Friday in the Tyrolean city of Ausserfern: a German (64) drove her car off the Fernpass road near Reutte, after which it overturned and ended up on its side on the embankment. The injured driver had to be rescued from the wreckage by firefighters.
The devastating accident took place shortly before 4.30am on the B179 near Lake Uri near Reutte. The 64-year-old German, who wanted to travel to Italy, lost control of her car due to microsleep.
The car remained on the driver’s side
“The car then left the road, rolled near the adjacent embankment and came to a stop on the driver’s side,” police said.
Driver freed from wreck
The rollover triggered an automatic emergency call via the E-Call system. The driver was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by the alert fire brigade.
After initial treatment at the scene of the accident, the 64-year-old was taken by ambulance to the Reutte district hospital.
