A 63-year-old man from Vienna was bitten by a viper in Wildalpen (Styria) on Friday afternoon. He complained of dizziness and was rescued by helicopter.
The Viennese was on a hike with his partner to the so-called tower (1,750 meters) in the municipality of Wildalpen. During the walk, the man grabbed a mountain stick in his hand. A viper snarled.
The 63-year-old suffered health problems after the bite, police wrote. For example, he complained of dizziness. The couple started the rescue chain.
The rescue helicopter Christophorus 12 rescued the man with a rope and flew him to Leoben LKH for first aid. Twelve members of the Wildalpen mountain rescue service were also present.
