Mendilibar’s Olympiacos eliminated Unai Emery’s Aston Villa and reached the Conference League final. Fiorentina did the same in Bruges and also secured a ticket for the final which was previously played in Greece. This means that the red and white team will have a small advantage, that even if the stadium tickets are distributed equally for each team, Olympiacos will be ‘home’.
Something that, according to ‘Nemzeti Sport’, could be different. Apparently, according to the aforementioned media, the final that will be held in Athens will go to Budapest, in the Puskas Arenas. The reason? Well, the Greek police cannot guarantee security at the AEK Stadium in Athens.
So far, UEFA has not commented on the matter and the venue of the final remains the same, so we will have to wait to confirm or deny the rumours.
What is clear is that one place or another will become the ‘god’ of Mendilibar, as he is known in Greece, a country where he has won the hearts of all.
