A serious accident occurred on the Westautobahn (A1) near Thalgau in Salzburg on Saturday night. A coach from the Czech Republic entered the cordoned off construction site and overturned. Why is still unclear. Three people were seriously injured.
According to information from the Mondsee Fire Command (AFKdo), the bus, which was traveling towards Vienna and carrying ten passengers, hit the slope of a concrete guardrail and then overturned. The fire brigade was called shortly after midnight.
About 100 emergency services from the fire brigades Thalgau, Unterdorf, Hof, Mondsee and Guggenberg, as well as the rescue and police services were present. The injured, some of whom were trapped, were rescued from the overturned bus and taken to surrounding hospitals.
The A1 was completely closed during the rescue work.
