This fraud appearance is considered particularly restrictive: on the phone, perpetrators occur as police officers and demand money or valuables. The victims often lose their entire fortune. The police now focus on the population with an urgent warning.
The phone is about, the call seems to come from the police – but there are unscrupulous fraudsters behind it. With refined lies, you have your victims hand over money or valuables. The stitches of tricksters are becoming more and more brutal: alleged accidents of family members or fake -craft work must tempt people to reveal information about their assets. The so -called “police trick” is mainly used.
Suspected trickster arrested
With a research group called “Sanniener” that was used especially for this purpose, the police again succeeded against an official 46-year-old Austrian citizen. In at least eleven cases he would have spent a police officer and, above all, brought the elderly around their entire savings. The exact amount of damage is still unclear, but must be in the lower to medium -sized sixties.
The 195 centimeters long man was arrested on Tuesday after a long observation in Vienna-Leopoldstadt. With him, the researchers insured a fake service in the name “Bauer Matthias”. The 46-year-old was partially tried to make an appointment and is currently in a police detention.
The police are addressing the population
Despite intensive investigations against the fraudsters, the police mainly want to start at the basis of the problem. Such fraud crimes can only be effectively satisfied by targeted information. The police appealed to the population, not only to protect themselves, but also to regularly talk to parents, grandparents and large grandfarmers about the stab of the “wrong police officers”. The following applies to the telephone: it is better to put on too often, stay skeptical and choose the police call when calling.
Call witness: All witnesses or other victims are asked to report to the Vienna State Criminal Police Office on 01/31310-33800. See www.bundeskriminalamt.at in the area for more information “Prevention and victim support”.
