To avoid a police check, a 19-year-old from Traun in Upper Austria accelerated. In a roadworks zone on the A9, he collided twice with the concrete barrier, but continued driving. Ultimately, the driver and his two friends (19, 20) fled into the woods, but were still caught.
On Friday around 4:40 p.m., a police patrol from the Klaus highway police wanted to stop a car with Croatian license plates at the Ried im Traunkreis exit to check the driver and the vehicle. The vehicle initially traveled behind the patrol car in the slow lane. Shortly after the patrol had already reached the Ried im Traunkreis exit, the car turned left, accelerated and fled.
Traveling way too fast
He tried to avoid the official action by driving at far too high speeds and making risky overtaking maneuvers. In the vicinity of the Inzersdorf construction site, the vehicle drove much too quickly into the closed construction site and collided twice with the concrete barrier on the right. Despite the serious damage, the vehicle continued to drive into the Ottsdorf tunnel construction site at high speed.
Band came loose
In the Ottsdorf tunnel the right front tire came off the rim and the driver stopped his crazy drive. But the story continued. The three occupants of the vehicle, two 19-year-olds and a 20-year-old from Traun, fled on foot to a forest area adjacent to the A9. The immediate search with thirteen patrols and a police helicopter was positive. The three young men were arrested in a residential area around 5:25 p.m.
Numerous crimes
The car, which was not registered for traffic, had stolen Croatian license plates mounted on it. The Romanian driver does not have a driver’s license. He is reported to the BH Kirchdorf for various traffic violations
