A residential building in Scharten caught fire late Sunday evening. A total of twelve fire brigades were active, some until early Monday morning. The elderly resident of the house had already been brought to safety by a neighbor. He was taken to hospital to be checked for flue gas.
Shortly after 9pm, the Finklham and Scharten fire brigades were alerted to a kitchen fire. When the first vehicles arrived, the building was already completely on fire. Reinforcements were quickly requested and a heightened alert level two was declared.
Quickly under control
The twelve fire brigades that were alerted quickly managed to get the fire under control. The resident of the house was lucky: he was brought to safety by a neighbor before the emergency services arrived. However, due to smoke inhalation, he was taken to hospital for a check-up. A second person was also treated on site by the rescue team.
