A family of five in Lower Austria was surprised by the flames overnight. Although they managed to save themselves, they had to be taken to the hospital afterwards. Especially the mother (30) must be badly affected.
Shortly after midnight on Whit Monday, a pungent smell of fire woke a family of five in Oberhausen, in the Gänserndorf district. The parents and their children between the ages of three and eight responded correctly, rushing outside and calling 911. Moments later, 110 firefighters spent more than three hours fighting the flames.
The fire probably spread from the terrace to the facade and onto the rafter for reasons that have not yet been elucidated.
To the hospital by helicopter
But not only the Florianis had their hands full, emergency doctors and paramedics were also needed. Especially the mother (30) must be badly affected. She had to be transported to the hospital by rescue helicopter with smoke inhalation. Her husband (35) and the three children were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Oxygenated dog
The family dog had to be treated on site for an extended period of time. He was rescued from the burning house and given oxygen from the first responders. “We were able to hand it over to the neighbors in relatively good condition,” says the Red Cross happily.
