On Monday evening, a 17-year-old allegedly threatened three men in Vienna’s first district with a blank pistol.
Police officers were called to an incident in the Burgring district at 3.20am on Monday. A young man contacted officers and reported that he and two friends were sitting on a park bench when they got into an argument with a stranger.
The situation escalated when the unknown man suddenly pulled out a gun and threatened the three men with it. The three then fled.
Temporary arrest
The officers were able to secure both the suspected 17-year-old Austrian and the alleged murder weapon, a blank pistol, in the area. The teenager was temporarily arrested and questioned on suspicion of making dangerous threats.
During interrogation he stated that he was drunk, but admitted that he had the blank weapon in his possession. After consultation with the Vienna public prosecutor’s office, it was reported that the suspect was at large.
