On Friday evening, a brave truck driver managed to stop a 23-year-old wrong-way driver on the Kremser Expressway in Lower Austria after driving a total of 25 kilometers against the direction of traffic. The 23-year-old also had no less than 2.8 per mille of alcohol in his blood.
According to the police, the alcoholic driver drove in the wrong direction at the Krems-Süd intersection. The man then drove his car in the direction of Krems to St. Pölten. It wasn’t until around 1 a.m. that a truck driver stopped him.
Driver’s license taken away
The alerted police officers immediately carried out an alcohol test on the wrong-way driver. This resulted in a value of 2.8 per mille.
The Lower Austrian’s driver’s license was confiscated. Reports to the St. Pölten Public Prosecutor’s Office and the responsible district authority will follow.
