A young policewoman had to endure tormenting fears. During one operation, a 35-year-old Viennese man reached into her mouth with bloody hands. The man had recently found out he was HIV positive and drugged himself with drugs out of anger. During the trial in Vienna’s Landl, he appears remorseful.
“When I was diagnosed with HIV, I could no longer keep my life on track. I got high on benzos and was out all night,” the suspect said at the start of the trial. On January 27, the situation escalated when police officers stopped him to determine his identity.
Outbreak of violence, even with a stethoscope
A terrible operation that countless officers will judge as witnesses in court on Monday. The perpetrator therefore attacked one of the policewomen and hit her about ten times in the face. Finally, the HIV-positive man stuck his blood-stained fingers in the officer’s mouth and shouted: “I have everything, you A…….” – according to the Criminal Code, this is deliberately endangering bringing people with communicable diseases. He also took his stethoscope from a paramedic who was called, injuring another police officer.

This is the primal horror,” he says, adding: “I am ashamed of it.” Judge Wolfgang Etl asks why he insulted the police officers so cruelly – in addition to the excessive force: “I cannot explain it. The police have helped me many times. For example, she saved my mother from being beaten up several times by my father.”
The dramatic, violent relationship between his parents could be one reason why the suspect ended up on the wrong track: the drug addict has a total of thirteen previous convictions. A decision on his placement in a forensic therapeutic center will be made on Tuesday, according to statements by court psychiatrist Peter Hofmann.
