Clip shows brutal act – prison transport attacked: drug lord on the run

Date:

Drug lord Mohamed Amra was freed from a criminal gang in France after a brutal attack on a prison transport vehicle. Now videos have emerged of Tuesday’s attack, which left two prison staff dead.

The criminal, also known by his nickname ‘The Fly’, was being taken from court to a prison in the city of Rouen, near Paris, on Tuesday when a car rammed into the prisoner van at a motorway toll booth. Armed, masked men then opened fire – and were able to free the 30-year-old drug lord. Two officers were killed and three others were injured. Two of the injured are said to be in life-threatening condition.

Transporter was rammed by another car
Surveillance footage shows hooded figures circling the van with weapons at the ready. Another video shows a black Peugeot SUV apparently crashed into a white van. Here too, men dressed in black can be seen approaching the van with weapons.

According to the Public Prosecution Service, the 30-year-old was convicted of burglary on May 10 and is also accused of kidnapping with a fatal outcome. He would have to appear in court again on these new charges. After the attack, hundreds of police officers tried to get the serious criminal back – so far without success.

The prisoner tried to see the bars of his cell
The 30-year-old allegedly tried to escape this weekend, his lawyer Hugues Vigier explained. He tried to see through the bars of his cell. The lawyer said he was shocked by the “inexcusable” and “insane” violence in the attack on the van. “He knew about the transfer, so it’s possible he told other people.”

According to the BBC, Amra has already been convicted thirteen times for – mostly minor – crimes, such as driving without a driver’s license and theft. However, he is suspected of being the head of an international drug network.

The transporter had no police escort
France is shocked by the brutal attack. “We will do everything we can, we will find them and I tell you: they will pay for it,” Prime Minister Gabriel Attal promised on Tuesday evening. According to information from investigators, the prisoner transport had no police escort. Such a measure must be requested by the prison administration if there is a suspicion that the prisoner poses a danger. But that was not the case with “the fly”.
