The Chinese president and his Russian counterpart met in Beijing during the latter’s state visit to the Asian country.
The Chinese President, Xi Jinpinghe declared on Thursday during a press conference after his meeting with his Russian counterpart: Vladimir Putinthat both sides agree that there is “a political solution” to the war in Ukraine It is ‘the right way’.
Facing criticism from the West over Chinese ambiguity, Xi Jinping explained that his position is “coherent and clear.” In this sense, he has indicated that he emphasizes “compliance with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations” and “respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States”. However, he calls for respect for “the reasonable security interests of all parties,” referring to Russia.
Likewise, Xi has assured that China hopes the European continent will “restore peace and stability,” and has indicated that his country will “continue to play a constructive role” in that regard.
The Asian giant, which has not condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, has repeatedly denied having military ties with Russia in recent months but has called for the holding of a conference “recognized by all sides” to resume dialogue.
Concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflictXi Jinping and Vladimir Putin defend the ‘two-state solution’. The Chinese president has assured that both consider it “extremely urgent” to resolve the conflict, adding that they agree “that the United Nations resolutions will be implemented.”
Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin signed a document to deepen strategic relations between the two countries, within the framework of a state visit two days of the Russian president to China.
