A couple’s sexual intercourse in a church in Germany’s Rosenheim district made headlines, and now the Traunstein Regional Court has sentenced a man to a longer prison term.
The “disturbance of religious practice” was only included for a few months in the five-year, five-month prison sentence, a regional court spokeswoman said on Thursday.
Camping fraud trial
First and foremost, the defendant was sentenced to prison on Wednesday for fraud in connection with his job as a campsite manager.
At the end of July 2022, the 39-year-old had consensual sex in the Catholic church in Schechen and also took photos of himself and his wife. She had already accepted a corresponding injunction. The amount of the fine remained unknown because the criminal proceedings are not public. Due to the incident shortly before Christmas last year, the local priest again blessed the altar in the church with incense and holy water.
The man was mainly convicted because he had defrauded camping tenants of money in twenty cases. He stole more than 400,000 euros, which, according to the spokeswoman, have now been seized by the court.
