The app ‘Lernsieg’, once developed by former student Benjamin Hadrian, is on the verge of being forgotten. Since its launch in 2019, the app has sparked an avalanche of controversies ranging from accusations of teacher bashing to legal lawsuits. Nevertheless, the company plans to relaunch the app in time for the start of the school holidays in September – first in Austria and then across Europe.
With new management, led by Katharina Lang, founder Benjamin Hadrian is now planning a new start. “The students want freedom of expression, participation and their voices must be heard,” says Lang. The app should not only be revived, but also further developed to make a positive contribution to education. Planned features are intended to help students actively integrate the app into their daily school life.
But opinions about the app are mixed. krone.tv also asked trainee teachers at the main university of Vienna. Some see it as an important opportunity for students to provide constructive criticism and feedback from teachers. However, others fear that the app could lead to bullying or discrimination.
Despite the controversy and concerns, the company continues to strive to integrate student opinions into the educational process. In the future, there are plans to not only revive the app, but also expand it to other European countries and integrate new features to bring even more benefits to students.
