The first tonne of northern tuna that arrived in Avilés on board the “Goienkale” was bought for that price by supermarket chain Alimerka.
He first bonito from the north of the coastcaught by a fishing boat from Bermeo, it was sold on Monday at the fish market of Avilés (Asturias) for a price of 339 euros per kilo.
Traditionally, the first container of tuna, weighing 122 kilos, was purchased for that price by the supermarket chain Alimerkawhich she will donate to the Economic Kitchen of Oviedo, while the rest of the bonito sold today, just over 3,000 kilos, was sold for an average of 14 euros per kilo.
The first bonito has arrived in Avilés on board the “Goienkale”located in Bermeo, with 3,236 kilos coming from the area Azores islands.
According to the data provided to EFE by Rula manager Ramón Álvarez, the price of the first bonito from the north is 31 euros lower than last year and the lowest price in the last five years.
The auction of the first northern tuna in the port of Avilés, which started more than 25 years ago with the sale of the so-called “campanu of the sea”, recorded last year a record of 370 euros per kilo in the first barrel auctioned.
