Shocking moment at a restaurant in Gatlinburg, Tennessee for guests and staff: a black bear sat down at one of the tables and unashamedly ate from one of the plates.
Instead of foraging for its own food, a black bear recently decided to eat out. To the dismay of restaurant staff, a video of the bizarre incident shows some people watching in disbelief as the brutal animal helps itself from a plate.
One brave witness even goes to the table and takes something from the bear’s table. Fortunately, the robbed reacts calmly and continues to nibble unmoved.
1500 bears in the adjacent national park
Gatlinburg is located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, home to approximately 1,500 black bears. It is not uncommon for Master Petz to venture into town. Visitors are encouraged to maintain a safe distance of at least 150 feet and dispose of trash and food scraps in bear-proof containers. Feeding is strictly prohibited. Doors and windows of vehicles and buildings must always be completely closed. “Yes, bears can open them,” the city’s website says.
If you encounter a bear, you should back away, not run away. Screams and loud noises are intended to scare the animals away. Groups of people should always stay together.
