A neighbor heard a bang in Gallneukirchen (Upper Austria) on Monday morning – this is how he discovered the fire that had broken out in a structure that resembled a garden shed. Four residents had to be taken to hospital for examination due to the fire.
“He immediately started the first attempts to extinguish the fire,” reports Markus Plank, commander of the Gallneukirchen volunteer fire brigade, about the neighbor in question. “Luckily we were able to keep the fire under control; the fire did not spread to adjacent buildings,” Floriani continued.
Cause of fire unclear
His team was alerted around 10 a.m. on Monday because a fire had broken out in an exterior structure of a residential building. Why is still unclear.
Go to the hospital for clarification
According to information from the police, four residents had to be taken to the hospital to investigate possible smoke inhalation. There was damage to the facade of the affected house in Gallneukirchen. According to Commander Plank, the fire brigade had the fire under control fairly quickly. “We did the last checks with the thermal imaging camera around 1 p.m.,” says Plank.
