Lack of ammunition – Ukrainian army is still under pressure in the east

Date:

The Russian army has captured one of the few villages on the eastern Ukrainian front, the Defense Ministry in Moscow said. The village south of Bakhmut had about 500 inhabitants before the war.

Russian troops had already taken over the village in January 2023, but the war enemy took it back in September of the same year. The Ukrainian army is currently under great pressure: it is waging a new Russian offensive in the northeastern region of Kharkov and at the same time facing a significant shortage of ammunition on the front lines.

Since the start of the ground offensive, the Russian military has repeatedly reported territorial gains. On Monday, the capture of the Bilohorivka bastion paved the way for full control over the eastern Luhansk region.

Police and civilians killed
The latest fighting resulted in more deaths. In northeastern Ukraine, a police officer died during an evacuation near the front lines. His colleague was injured. The police car the two were riding in was hit by a drone.

According to Russian authorities, the Ukrainian army is said to have shelled the occupied city of Lysychansk and the Russian region of Belgorod. Two people were killed and six others were injured. “Several air targets were shot down as they approached the village of Belenkoye. “To our great regret, a civilian was killed,” Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

The Kremlin claims that the offensive in Ukraine’s Kharkiv Oblast aims to create a “security zone” that will prevent future Ukrainian attacks on the Russian border area (see video above).
