The body of a 19-year-old was recovered four days after the shipwreck on the Danube north of Budapest. At least three people were killed. Four others are still missing, the police announced on Wednesday evening. The search for them continues.
Like the other victims, the 19-year-old was on board the motorboat that collided with the hotel ship MS Heidelberg on Saturday evening. Passers-by discovered a man with serious head injuries next to the Danube and became aware of the accident (see video above).
Accident victim still in hospital
A short time later, emergency services found two bodies and the damaged motorboat. There were eight people between the ages of 18 and 40 who came from a festival. The Italian national, who was seriously injured and managed to escape to the coast, is currently being treated in hospital and has not yet been interviewed. The police hope to get more information about the accident from him.
They have now arrested the Czech captain and are investigating him on suspicion of failure to provide assistance resulting in death. The hotel ship, which apparently rammed the boat, was stopped. Investigation is also underway in this case.
