Date:

It’s a fate that touches you. After it was broadcast on ServusTV, there was a wave of willingness to help a hardworking farmer from the Salzkammergut. A call for donations saved their farm from foreclosure. The debt drama surrounding the Upper Austrian also moves the readers of “Krone”.

A beautiful farm, embedded in the idyll of the Salzkammergut. Sabine Hinterberger is a passionate farmer. She has been selling her treats for ten years. Her cheese received three bronze medals. Her raspberry jam yoghurt even became a national winner. The cheese dumplings from Upper Austria went all the way to Dubai.

Single parent had multiple jobs
But the ideal world in St. Wolfgang is deceptive. The 51-year-old fears for her existence. She has already taken over the farm, which has been in the family since 1416, with debts. The woman could not trust her husband’s helping hand. Alcohol was more important to him. The mother of four decided to raise her children alone, waitressing in the evenings and delivering newspapers in the evenings.

At first it looked pretty good. But then the sisters wanted to start their own family. The hardworking farmer was rejected at the bank. Suddenly an investor from Vorarlberg appeared – the catch: the farmer’s wife had to pay everything back after two years. She felt poorly advised by her lawyer.

A huge mountain of debt piled up
The Vorarlberger would have averted a forced auction in 2020. He allegedly only offered her interim financing and not long-term financing. She couldn’t pay the interest. The mountain of debt has now grown to 470,000 euros.

After ServusTV shed light on the fate of the farmer’s wife, viewers launched a fundraising campaign. There is already more than 220,000 euros in the pot. As a result, the mandatory auction on Wednesday could be postponed for the time being.
