Horrible accident on Thursday evening in Vienna: a woman allegedly lost control of her electric car on Erdbergstrasse. Their vehicle skidded and crashed into a concrete wall.
Around 9:30 p.m. the alarm bells rang in Landstrasse: the emergency services immediately went to Erdbergstrasse. Once there, the seriously deformed vehicle could already be seen in a green environment.
Concrete wall destroyed after crash
The driver of the accident had previously crashed into a concrete wall, destroying eight meters of it. It is still unclear why the woman lost control of her car.
Battery checked for heating
When the professional fire brigade arrived, both occupants were already being treated by the emergency services. According to the Vienna Fire Department, because the vehicle involved in the accident was an electric car, fire protection had to be set up, the vehicle’s batteries checked for overheating and the scene had to be illuminated with spotlights.
“After the police registered the accident, the car was lifted onto a tow truck and then taken to a so-called ‘quarantine place’ for electric vehicles that had been involved in an accident,” the fire brigade announced on Friday. The vehicle’s batteries had to be separated from the wreckage beforehand.
