Iran affirms that it will continue to strengthen bilateral and international cooperation with Russia

“Bilateral, regional and international mutual cooperation is becoming stronger,” Bagheri Kani said on his X account after receiving a call from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani on Saturday expressed his country’s interest in further strengthening Iran’s economy bilateral relations with Russia after the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisí on Sunday in a helicopter crash.

“Bilateral, regional and international mutual cooperation is becoming stronger,” Bagheri Kani said on his X account after receiving a call from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Iran’s acting foreign minister has said he discussed bilateral and multilateral programs with the head of Russian diplomacy.

‘The path of multilateralism is the strategic choice of Iran and Russia to… just world in which every actor has the opportunity to play a role based on its capabilities,” the Iranian diplomat said.

On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that Iran’s foreign policy towards his country will remain unchanged after Raisi’s death.

Russia and Iran have strengthened their relations in recent years, especially since the early twentieth century war in Ukraine.
