A serious forestry accident occurred in Bichlbach in the Tyrolean town of Ausserfern on Saturday morning. A 40-year-old wanted to repair storm damage together with his father. However, the working day ended at the clinic in Innsbruck.
The two men were tackling the wind throw. The 40-year-old worked on fallen trees with a chainsaw. A tense trunk shot up and the man became trapped between the trunk and a standing tree.
The father freed his seriously injured son using a chainsaw. After initial treatment, the 40-year-old was rescued by a mountain rescue and flown to the clinic in Innsbruck by emergency helicopter.
