On Friday, two workers clashed at a construction site in Carinthia’s Völkermarkt district as they were cleaning a concrete mixer. The argument escalated to the point where four people fought in a hole in the ground and three of them were injured.
On Friday around 7 p.m., the police received a complaint from a driver from Klagenfurt (39) who stated that he had been beaten at a construction site in the municipality of St. Kanzian on Lake Klopeiner See. When they arrived on scene, officers noticed the caller had a head injury.
“During the course of the investigation, it turned out that the driver drove his concrete mixer backwards to a so-called cunette (an elongated digging shaft for pipes, for example) to clean it and wanted to wash it out there,” the police said. However, a 48-year-old worker from the Wolfsberg district was probably not happy with this idea.
“Since, according to the man, this place was not intended for that purpose, a violent argument broke out between the two, during which both became violent and fell into a hole in the ground,” police said.

A foreman (34) from Klagenfurt and a driver (40) from Ferlach wanted to stop the fight, but instead a scuffle broke out between all four involved at the hole in the ground. Except for the man from Ferlach, everyone involved was injured and some had to be treated at the Klagenfurt clinic.
