Advertisement in Klagenfurt – Attacked by a drunk while cleaning up

Date:

It was the first after-work market of the year, which took place on Friday in Klagenfurt – and unfortunately it ended with a bitter aftertaste for some employees. While cleaning up, they were harassed by a drunk and attacked with glass bottles.

A 25-year-old from the St. Veit district was cleaning up the Benedictine market in Klagenfurt late on Friday evening with a number of colleagues after the after-work market that had taken place earlier. “During this time he was verbally provoked and insulted by an unknown man of foreign origin who spoke broken German,” police said.

The 25-year-old ignored the hostility and continued his work. The unknown man then hit him on the head with a glass bottle, causing him to fall to the ground. The perpetrator then fled.

“About five minutes later, the suspect returned and, according to witnesses at the scene, again sought confrontation. “He became short-tempered again, insulted those present in southern language and threw a glass bottle at a 19-year-old colleague of the victim, injuring the Klagenfurt woman in her right leg,” an official said. The attacker then fled again on foot towards the city center.

As part of an immediately initiated search, the fugitive was stopped a short time later by a police patrol and temporarily arrested. An alcohol test conducted showed moderate alcohol consumption. The 29-year-old, a Moroccan who lives in Klagenfurt, has not confessed. He was reported.
