Italian investigators have apparently succeeded in arresting the suspected thieves of a spectacular ham heist. The stolen property was the finest Italian prosciutto, which was stolen in northeastern Italy last year.
The carabinieri in the Friulian town of Latisana near Udine have arrested seven people who allegedly stole 1,500 legs of smoked ham worth more than 200,000 euros in April last year. The ham was stolen from a production factory in Rivignano Teor, near Udine.
Videos caught thieves
The suspects, who were arrested in the regions of Lombardy and Apulia, were identified through video footage, investigators said.
The vehicles were also located, including three semi-trailers that had been used to transport the large quantity of Italian prosciutto. The investigators assumed it was contract theft.
