Renowned forensic psychiatrist and author Reinhard Haller speaks in an interview with “Krone” Crime about the deepest depths of the human soul. “In all of us,” he says, “there is a desire to do evil.”
“Kron”: Until before Corona, it was a common sight on our streets and in bars: people manically staring at their mobile phones without paying attention to their surroundings and talking to their family and friends. Have we become, consciously or unconsciously, more and more selfish loners lately? And: Has the crisis stopped this development?
Reinhard Haller: Narcissism in our society has now decreased. Because the virus has made it clear to us that we are not invincible; that we should not live in the already nonsensical belief that we can conquer the earth.
So we are in a withdrawal phase, but that probably also brings challenges…
Loneliness has long been considered perhaps the biggest problem in our modern world. And I think it will probably become even bigger in the future.
