Fire alarm late Sunday evening in East Tyrol: a hay barn suddenly caught fire in the municipality of Ainet. The owner tried to extinguish the fire, but in vain. The cause is currently unclear. However, arson cannot be ruled out.
The fire broke out in the Alkus district shortly after 10 p.m. “The local residents noticed the burning smell and saw smoke development in the area of the hay barn about 15 meters from the house,” the police reported.
The owner’s attempt to delete failed
The owner tried to control the fire and extinguish it with a fire extinguisher. But without success.
Only the alerted fire brigade was ultimately able to extinguish the fire. No one was injured. The extent of the damage caused cannot yet be quantified.
“Arson not excluded”
“Based on the current investigation into the cause of the fire, arson cannot be ruled out,” the council concluded.
