Two men (22 and 38 years old) allegedly ran over a holidaymaker from Germany with a pedal boat at the Reintalersee in Kramsach in Tyrol. Now the alleged perpetrators stood before the judge, but they told a completely different story.
Horror experience for Ulrich K. (name changed) in the middle of a lake in Tyrol in August of the previous year! A pedal boater (22) allegedly tried to run over the German several times. In addition, a friend (38) is said to have encouraged the 22-year-old with the words “Run him over!”
The jury heard two versions
The 68-year-old swallowed water, but was able to escape to the shore of the Reintaler Meer near Kramsach, completely exhausted, according to his own statements. “I also suffered an injury to my shin,” the Innsbruck holidaymaker recalled in court.
The two defendants strongly denied serious allegations that there was only a verbal altercation. “I only noticed there was a swimmer nearby when the man insulted us,” said the 22-year-old. His companion admitted to splashing the “angry swimmer”. “For fun!” According to the defendants, the tourist also tried to get on the pedal boat. “That’s where the injuries occurred,” the 38-year-old was convinced.
The two then followed the man. “We wanted to apologize.” They wanted to invite the German for a beer, but he refused and threatened to file a complaint.
Acquittal in case of doubt
In the case of testimony against testimony, it was difficult for the jury to prove the crime to the defendants. When in doubt, an acquittal followed.
