Siemens Gamesa plans to 4100 jobs all over the world, of which approx 430 will be employees in the Spanish statewhich represents almost 8% of the renewable energy group’s employees.
According to the information distributed by the company to its employees, the reduction in employment in the Spanish state “will not affect factories and will basically concentrate on office functions.” Siemens Gamesa’s headquarters are located in the municipality of Bizkaia Zamudio.
The company, which has committed to moving affected workers to growth areas, held meetings with unions at European and Spanish levels on Tuesday, explaining that the current situation at Siemens Gamesa “requires” these “institutions”.
At the same time, the company has explained that the creation of other jobs is expected through the company’s growth in other areas, such as offshore wind energy.
Siemens Gamesa has almost 3,000 employees in Hego Euskal Herria at its factories in Zamudio, Mungia, Asteasu, Sarriguren and Arazuri.
