A rear-end collision involving five vehicles took place on the B178 in Söll in the Tyrolean district of Kufstein on Tuesday afternoon. A truck driver (51) had overlooked that the vehicles in front of him had come to a standstill.
The 51-year-old driver of the truck was driving on the Loferer Bundesstraße from Wörgl towards St. Johann in Tirol around 1:20 p.m. As the police explain, the resident of the municipality of Söll may have overlooked the fact that a convoy of four vehicles had stopped in front of him. The truck crashed into the stationary cars, pushing them together.
An injured person was taken to hospital
A 41-year-old driver from Austria was seriously injured in the accident. The rescue team had to take her to the hospital in Kufstein. According to police, another person involved suffered minor abrasions.
There was significant damage to the vehicles involved, but police say it cannot yet be quantified. The B178 Loferer Straße was only passable in one lane for about 1.5 hours after the accident.
