Hamas and Islamic Jihad periodically release video footage of their Israeli hostages. The government in Jerusalem sees this as an attempt to use psychological warfare to break popular support. Another disturbing video surfaced on Tuesday.
In it, a young man announces that in the coming days he will tell the ‘whole truth’ about what happened to him and the other hostages. It was also initially unclear under what circumstances the video (see below) was made and whether the man spoke under pressure or threat.
Girlfriend, mother and grandmother already free
According to Israeli media, the 28-year-old was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7 along with his mother, grandmother and girlfriend. The three women were released in late November as part of an agreement between the Israeli government and Hamas.
According to media reports, the man’s father was killed in the October 7 massacre. Terrorists have abducted more than 250 hostages to the Gaza Strip. About half of them are said to still be in the hands of the Islamists.
