Gaza War – Israel has proposed a six-week ceasefire

Date:

Israel’s representative has proposed a new “comprehensive” agreement in indirect negotiations with Hamas. American President Joe Biden announced this on Friday evening. It should include a withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip for six weeks and a ceasefire during this period.

According to Biden, the offer includes “the withdrawal of Israeli forces from all inhabited areas of the Gaza Strip and the release of a number of hostages, including women, the elderly and the wounded.” In addition, hundreds of Palestinian prisoners will be released from Israeli prisons. Refugees must also be able to return within six weeks.

Hamas tightened its position
In return, the surviving hostages must be freed from the clutches of Hamas. The US president called on the Palestinian organization to agree to the agreement. It’s time to end the war. Hamas had recently tightened its position and stated that it would not be willing to negotiate as long as the Israeli army did not stop fighting in the Gaza Strip. The talks, which were mediated by representatives of the US, Egypt and Qatar, were subsequently halted and only recently resumed.

Audio recording of hostage
On Friday, the terrorist organization released an audio recording in which an Israeli hostage can be heard. The woman has been in captivity for 237 days, it said. According to Hamas, she is 26 years old and was abducted to the Gaza Strip during the terrorist attack on Israel on October 7.

Israel: psychological terror against family members
It was initially unclear under what circumstances and when the recording was made. Israeli media reported that the hostage’s family asked that the audio recording not be released. Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad have published videos of the kidnapped people several times.

The Israeli government describes this as psychological terror against the family members. For months they have called for a new deal with Hamas to secure the release of the hostages. According to Israeli information, 84 hostages could still be alive. The war has been going on for more than seven months.
