Date:

Two people were injured in a car accident on the Tauernautobahn (A10) in Hüttau (Salzburg) on Sunday afternoon. A holidaymaker lost control of his car and trailer just before the driving tunnel. The vehicle first crashed into a traffic sign and then into the tunnel wall.

Both occupants of the vehicle were injured. Emergency services had to free the passenger from the car. The emergency medical helicopter Martin 1 took her to hospital. There was also a dog in the car at the time of the accident, which appeared to be unharmed. Nevertheless, the four-legged friend was taken to a vet for a check-up.

The accident led to a total closure of the Tauern Autobahn between the Pongau and Hüttau junctions. According to ASFINAG, the traffic jam stretched for five kilometers at 1 p.m. In the direction of Salzburg, returning holidaymakers were stuck in traffic jams for 15 kilometers between the Pongau and Hüttau junctions. Increasing trend!

Multiple accidents
The heavy return traffic towards the north, in combination with the tunnel construction locations on the A10, also caused significant traffic jams in the first weekend of June. On Saturday, the maximum waiting time in the 25 kilometer long traffic jam for holidaymakers traveling north was three hours.

Traffic was blocked in both directions after an accident caused delays on Saturday. A bus collided with a truck at the northern portal of the Helbersberg tunnel and two people were injured in the accident.
