Brutal home invasions – Woman beaten with hammer: Gangs behind bars

Date:

Researchers in Lower Austria have solved two brutal attacks within their own four walls. The victims were seriously injured. The perpetrators – both times a group of Romanians – are in custody.

These are crimes with serious consequences. The perpetrators are extremely brutal and penetrate into the most intimate spaces: your own four walls. The victims suffer injuries that they have to struggle with for the rest of their lives. Two of these so-called home invasions have now been solved in Lower Austria. Four Romanians (aged 22, 40, 45 and 46) were arrested in the attack on a couple in Würnitz in the Korneuburg district on February 7.

The masked men broke into the house at night and attacked the resident several times with a hammer. The woman suffered serious injuries. The husband shot the perpetrators in self-defense. One of the Romanians was injured. Two of them were also involved in a robbery in Vienna in November last year. They are in custody and some have confessed.

And in Hinterbrühl in the Mödling district, three masked men (also Romanians) broke into the home of a 67-year-old with a weapon. They knocked the man to the ground, threatened his bedridden mother (95) and her caregiver and fled with silver cutlery – already sentenced to several years in prison.

Two to five cases per year in Lower Austria
“The Lower Austrian State Police has succeeded in dealing a double blow to organized crime,” said Interior Minister Karner. According to LKA boss Stefan Pfandler, 80 percent of these crimes are solved.
