A neighborhood dispute in the Viennese district of Hietzing completely escalated on Wednesday afternoon: an 80-year-old attacked his 51-year-old neighbor with a gas pistol, who in turn defended himself with a punch straight in the pensioner’s face.
The two neighbors clashed again around 4:30 p.m. The argument was – as it has been several times in the past – about a window in the hallway. One person prefers to have the window closed, the other insists that it remains open.
Pensioner was punched in the face
During the argument, the 80-year-old suddenly used a gas pistol. The 51-year-old then hit the older man in the face with his fist.
Police arrived and issued a temporary weapons ban against the pensioner, and the gas pistol was seized.
Both men were treated by Vienna’s professional rescue service and the 80-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The 51-year-old, who was also slightly injured, refused hospital care.
Complaints about mutual abuse
The two fighters were reported on suspicion of mutual bodily harm. It has probably not yet been decided what condition the corridor window will remain in in the future…
