In the Carinthian district of Völkermarkt, a motorcyclist caught the attention of a plainclothes police officer on Sunday morning because of his driving style, but it was only later that it became clear to the fast-driving 24-year-old…
The 24-year-old from the Wolfsberg district was riding his motorcycle on Packer Straße from Griffen towards Enzelsdorf on Sunday around 10:55 am when he attracted attention because of a “wheelie” – like riding on the rear tire in the jargon of a police officer.
Driving fast in the 100 zone
He then drove behind the motorcyclist on his civilian motorcycle, after which the 24-year-old accelerated considerably. “The driver was traveling at a speed of 189 km/h, minus the measurement error tolerance, in an area where the maximum permitted speed is 100 km/h,” police said.
The speeding offender’s driver’s license, registration certificate and registration number have been temporarily confiscated and a report is being made.
