Controversial German AfD leader Maximilian Krah was expelled from his delegation in the European Parliament (see video above). The politician himself announced this on Monday. Yet he “of course” wants to enter the EU Parliament.
“I wish my newly elected fellow MPs the best of luck in their attempt to rejoin the ID faction without me. I think this path is wrong and sends a devastating signal to our voters, especially our young voters,” the politician wrote in a video on the X platform.
Here you can see Maximilian Krah’s message.
As reported, the right-wing populist Identity and Democracy (ID) faction recently excluded all AfD MPs. This was justified, among other things, by Krah’s statements about the National Socialist SS (Schutzstaffel). The 47-year-old said not all members of the SS were criminals. The SS guarded and managed the concentration camps and was responsible for war crimes.
Influence from Russia?
The German politician is also under investigation due to accusations of influence from Russia. A longtime employee of Krah was arrested on suspicion of espionage.
The AfD achieved its best result yet in the European elections on Sunday. It came second in Germany, behind the Union. The ID group in the European Parliament from which the party was expelled includes the FPÖ, the Italian League and Marine Le Pen’s French RN party.
