Urkullu will meet with Mercedes Benz management to explain its commitment to the automotive sector

The Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, has announced that he will travel to Stuttgart (Germany) in July to meet the President of Mercedes Benz and convey to him the commitment of the Basque Government, the Provincial Council of Álava and the City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz to continue working for the automotive sector

“Next month in Stuttgart I will meet with the president of Mercedes Benz to show him our institutional commitment to continue working together in the future of the Basque automotive sector,” said de Lehendakari.

Urkullu attended Vitoria-Gasteiz at the close of the SEA-Empresarios Alaveses General Assembly, in which he stressed “the strategic importance of this project for the transformation of the entire automotive industry and the consolidation of the Vitoria-Gasteiz plant. Gasteiz as one of the most competitive companies in the world”.

“We are facing an opportunity for Mercedes’ 5,000 direct and 30,000 indirect employees, and to ensure the future of more than 600 parts suppliers we have in Araba and Euskadi,” he said.

Likewise, he added that in order to carry out this investment project, “we must encourage the cooperation of all parties”.
