A Singapore Airlines plane encountered heavy turbulence at the end of May, resulting in dozens of injuries and even one death. Now the airline wants to compensate passengers.
“We have offered $10,000 in compensation to passengers who suffered minor injuries in the incident. “We have invited passengers who suffered more serious injuries in the incident to discuss an offer of compensation,” the airline said on Tuesday.
A Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300R with 229 people on board hit an air gap en route to Singapore about ten hours after takeoff from London. One passenger was killed in the violent turbulence and at least thirty were injured, some seriously. Singapore Airlines enjoys a good reputation worldwide and has not had any major incidents in recent years.
