An accident occurred in the Waldviertel with one person injured: a 40-year-old had to stop at an intersection due to traffic. Behind him was a heavily intoxicated 33-year-old man driving his partner’s car. An accident occurred, but the alcoholic driver no longer has to surrender his driver’s license.
A rear-end collision took place in the Zwettl district on Tuesday around 4:50 p.m. A 40-year-old from the district was driving on federal road 36 in the Großweißenbach region and had to stop there due to traffic. A 33-year-old – also from the Zwettl district – who was driving his partner’s car, also drove in the same direction.
Alcoholic drinker taken to hospital
The drunken 33-year-old – it later turned out in the hospital that he had 2.44 per mille of alcohol in his blood – only noticed too late that the car in front of him stopped and collided with the 40-year-old’s car. The alcoholic driver was taken by ambulance to Zwettl State Hospital with injuries of an undetermined nature. The driver of the stationary car was uninjured in the traffic accident.
In addition to the threatened high penalties for the alcohol accident and his girlfriend’s damaged car, the 33-year-old risks another charge: driving without a driver’s license. The driver’s license had already been revoked by the authorities.
