A 14-year-old boy wanted to take a ride on the Old Danube in Vienna with his friends on Wednesday. The teenager had entered someone else’s premises in the Danube city and started using an electric boat. He’s been caught.
The 14-year-old Austrian had entered someone else’s property in the evening and had released an electric boat tied to it with two ropes from the jetty and put it into use. He drove along the Old Danube to pick up three friends.
The action did not go unnoticed for long
After their joyride, the teen allegedly parked the boat on the shore and left it behind. But his action did not go unnoticed for long: the boy was quickly picked up by the police and temporarily arrested.
“The boat was secured by officers from the Novara water police,” police spokesman Mattias Schuster said on Thursday. The 14-year-old was found in the immediate area with a screwdriver and a side cutter. He also admitted that he had short-circuited an electric moped two days earlier and had also used it without permission. It could already be returned to the owner.
