On Wednesday afternoon, highway officers stopped a truck on the A1 in the municipality of Oed in the Amstetten district that had attracted attention because of its “unsafe driving style”. In addition, the vehicle with a Ukrainian license plate was in a rather dilapidated condition, the state police reported in a broadcast on Thursday.
Driving at 2.4 per mille
The 33-year-old initially braked strongly and wanted to avoid coming to a stop on the Oed exit. Ultimately, the officers sent him to the traffic control center in The Hague. An alcohol test on the 33-year-old Romanian was positive: more than 2.4 per mille. His driver’s license was temporarily confiscated.
The experts also discovered a potentially dangerous defect in the braking system and further driving was prohibited. A deposit was collected. The defect could be repaired on site. The license plate holder and the driver are reported to the responsible administrative body.
