Year-on-year inflation has declined as a result of lower fuel prices and a slower rise in food prices. In Spain, year-on-year inflation stood at 3.2% in May.

Inflation fell to 3.4% in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) and 3.6% in Navarrein May respectively 0.8 point and 0.6 point lower than in April.
In monthly termsthe consumer price index (CPI) in the BAC has not changed and fell by 0.1% in Navarra.
So far this yearinflation has risen by 1.9% in the BAC and by 1.3% in Navarre, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics released this Tuesday.
In the set of Spanish stateCPI was 3.2% year-on-year in May, nine-tenths lower than the rate recorded in April, the lowest level since July 2021.
Year-on-year inflation is subdued as a result of the cheaper fuel and a lower rise in food and non-alcoholic beverages, which stood at 12%.
On the other hand, the annual percentage variation of the Underlying inflation (general index excluding unprocessed foods or energy products) fell by five-tenths to 6.1%, making the difference with the general CPI almost three points.
