Courageous witnesses to an accident freed a trapped motorist (56) from his wreck in the Viennese district of Leopoldstadt on Thursday morning. The electric car crashed head-on into a tree.
For unknown reasons, the driver crashed into a tree on Obere Donaustrasse in the early morning hours. The driver was trapped, but witnesses were able to free the man before the fire brigade arrived on the scene.
The 58-year-old was in critical condition and was taken to hospital.
Fire protection installed
The vehicle involved in the accident was an electric car. “Fire protection has been set up as a precaution, as with any accident involving other vehicles,” the fire brigade spokesperson emphasizes. “The accident vehicle was then removed by a fire brigade tow truck and parked safely.” The Vienna fire brigade was at work for about an hour with four vehicles.
