Dramatic operation for the Hamburg police on Friday evening: after a suspect, who had allegedly previously set his father on fire, shot at the officers from his balcony, special forces were called back. The man died on the spot.
As a police spokesperson said Friday morning, officers were alerted by residents shortly before midnight “due to a male subject exhibiting behavioral issues.”
At the same time, the fire brigade was also called in and had to treat a man, believed to be the shooter’s father, with serious burns. Apparently the son set his father on fire while he was sleeping, reports ‘Bild’. The man was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Meanwhile, the suspect barricaded himself in his apartment. When the emergency services arrived, the man allegedly suddenly shot at the police from his balcony. Reinforcement was then requested from a team from the Special Operations Command (SEK).
