On Thursday evening there was a violent argument between a 33-year-old and a police officer in Vienna-Leopoldstadt after the officer wanted to arrest the suspect for aggravated robbery.
The officers were called to the Praterstern around 9:30 p.m. because a driver of an e-scooter (33) allegedly caused an accident with a car. However, the officials found only a clearly drunk driver of an e-scooter. There was no trace of the driver of the car. Nevertheless, the 33-year-old was no longer allowed to drive the e-scooter and was fined. According to the police, he then became extremely aggressive and refused to pay the fine. The first announcement followed.
Motorist threatened with knife
Some time later, the driver of the car reported to the police station in Praterstern and reported the 33-year-old, who threatened him with a knife and demanded money after the accident. The driver of the car then took off with his car. Fortunately, witnesses were able to observe the incident and confirm it to the police.
In police custody
The 33-year-old was arrested shortly afterwards in his apartment for attempted robbery. However, he tried to avoid arrest by banging the apartment door against an officer’s body several times, injuring himself. Despite fierce resistance, the man was arrested. He was charged with attempted robbery, resisting law enforcement and aggravated assault and is in police custody.
