For over a decade, one of the first steps most Windows users take when starting up a new PC has been to use Microsoft’s default browser to download and install Google Chrome, making it their default browser. The annoyance of incompatible websites and Internet Explorer still bothers many people – even though Microsoft has been offering a successor for years, Edge, which is now based on the same open source foundation as Google Chrome. On smartphones, however, internet users are much less willing to change – and therefore miss out.
